The Fastest Way to Print a Page is the PrintFriendly Browser Tool

Do you constantly need to print articles from websites? Do you find yourself going to PrintFriendly.com regularly to print or make PDFs of pages? Have you ever wondered if there was an even faster way to make a PrintFriendly page without having to go to PrintFriendly.com each time?

The PrintFriendly browser tool has been there for a long time. It's a print friendly button that sits on your browser instead of the webpage. The best thing about the browser tool, or browser bookmarklet, is that it doesn't need the webpage to have a PrintFriendly button installed. Even if the website you're viewing doesn't have the PrintFriendly button, you can still print or generate a PDF copy of the webpage right from the page without navigating away. Today I'll show you how easy it is to set up the PrintFriendly browser tool on your browsers.

Basically there are two steps to installing the PrintFriendly browser tool on your browser. The first step is to show the bookmark bar. Just like the menu bar, the bookmark bar is a bar that shows the bookmarked items on your browser. You have to make sure that the bookmark bar is visible. If it isn't, the first step is to make it visible.

The second step is to install the tool. Don't worry about the word "install", because it's just drag-and-drop. Follow along to see how these steps are done in the most popular browsers.

Step 1: Go to View from menu, click Toolbars and make sure the Bookmark toolbar is checked.

Step 2: Go to (updated link) our Firefox page. Now, click and drag the PrintFriendly button on the right (below the Firefox logo) and release your mouse button on the Bookmark toolbar.

That's it! If you are using Google Chrome, please check the instructions below.

Step 1: First of all, make sure the bookmark bar is visible. It sits right below the location box of the browser.

If you can't see the toolbar (marked with a red rectangle in the image), simply press Ctrl + Shift + B altogether and the bar will be visible. If you want to do it manually, then follow the image below:

Step 2: Go to (updated link) our Chrome page. Now, click and drag the PrintFriendly button on the right (below the Google Chrome logo) and release your mouse button on the Bookmark toolbar.

That's it. Every time you visit a webpage that you want to print or make PDF of, you just click the PrintFriendly button from the bookmark bar, and a print-friendly version of the page will be generated in an in-page pop-up.

Oh wait, looks like we've missed one more popular browser, right? And that's Internet Explorer. Let's see how we can do the same thing on Internet Explorer (version 7 and later).

On Internet Explorer, there is one additional step. Please make sure you don't miss that out.

Step 1: The bookmark bar is called "Favorites bar" in Internet Explorer. To make sure it's visible, right click anywhere in the toolbar area and make sure the Favorites bar is checked.

Step 2: Go to (updated link) the Edge page. Now, right click on the PrintFriendly button on the left (below Internet Explorer logo) and click "Add to Favorites."

Step 3: A box will show up and you have to choose the Favorites bar from the drop-down menu before adding.

And that's it! Every time you're viewing a web page that you want to print, just click the PrintFriendly button from the bookmark bar and a pop-up will generate a print-friendly version of the article you are viewing. Then you can click the Print button to send the generated page to your printer or you can click the PDF button that will make a PDF version of the page and give you a download link to download the PDF.
